The useful part of this page is not the promise that we will come. It is the honest boundary: what genuinely gets done in place, and what has to come to Industrial Area 15.
What we do in situ
- Diagnostics and fault finding — compression and crankcase pressure testing, exhaust temperature survey, boost and back-pressure checks, ECM fault code reading, oil sampling
- Top overhaul — cylinder heads off, valves and seats attended to, head gaskets and seals renewed, valve clearances and injection timing reset
- Injector and fuel pump changes — units removed, calibrated at the workshop bench, refitted and timed on site
- Turbocharger removal and refitting — the unit itself goes to the turbo bench and comes back rebuilt and balanced
- Cooling system work — heat exchanger and cooler removal, cleaning, pressure testing, water pump changes, thermostat and hose renewal
- Electrical — starter motor and charging alternator removal, bench overhaul and refitting; charging system voltage-drop testing on the machine
- Piston, ring and liner work on engines where the design allows it — many medium-speed marine and genset engines are built to be worked on in place, one unit at a time
- Governor and control adjustment
- Commissioning, timing and run-up after repair
What has to come to the workshop
We would rather tell you this before you book than after we arrive.
- Crankshaft grinding. In-situ crankshaft grinding is a real technique and specialist firms sell it into this market, usually for shafts too large to move. For the engines we deal with, the crank comes out and goes onto a machine here, because that gives a better-controlled result and it is faster and cheaper than mobilising portable machining onto your site. If your shaft genuinely cannot be removed, say so early and we will tell you honestly whether the job is one for us or for an in-situ specialist.
- Cylinder reboring and honing. Bore geometry and the correct honed surface finish need the boring and honing machines.
- Cylinder head surfacing and full head reconditioning. Heads travel easily; the surfacer does not.
- Connecting rod reboring and alignment.
- Main bearing bore line boring. Done on the block, on our machine, not in your plant room.
- Anything requiring the block to be checked for true.
All of that sits in the machine shop. The practical pattern on most in-situ jobs is therefore split: we strip on your site, the machinable components travel to Sharjah, and we rebuild on your site when they come back.
What we bring
An engineer arrives able to measure, not just to look. That means calibrated torque equipment, compression and crankcase pressure testing, temperature and pressure instrumentation, electronic fault-code reading and live data on engines that have it, and the common consumables and gaskets that turn a diagnosis into a finished job on the same visit. Model-specific parts are ordered against the findings, which is why the engine model matters when you call.
The measuring matters more than the tooling. A visit that produces readings — compression per cylinder, crankcase pressure at load, exhaust temperature deviation, boost and back pressure — produces a decision. A visit that produces opinions produces a second visit.

Site logistics we deal with routinely
Marine. Alongside in port, at a yard, at anchorage, or in a marina berth. Access to an engine room means gangway timing, hot work permits and gas-free certification where cutting or welding is involved, and coordination with the chief engineer's watchkeeping. Tell us the port or yard and the access requirement when you enquire, and the paperwork is dealt with before the engineer travels rather than at the gate.
Plant rooms and basements. Fire pump and standby genset rooms are usually the hardest access on the list — a head off a Perkins fire pump engine has to come up a stairwell, not out through a door. We scope lifting and route before quoting.
Construction and industrial sites. Site induction, PPE, permit to work, and coordination with your own lifting equipment.
Confined space and hot work. Engine rooms, tank tops and plant basements bring permit conditions with them. We work to the site's permit system and to the vessel or building operator's safety regime, and we would rather agree the conditions before mobilising than negotiate them with an engineer standing at the gate.
How a callout runs
- Call. Tell us the engine make and model, the application, what it is doing (or not doing) and where it is.
- Triage on the phone. Some faults are settled with two questions and a photo of a gauge. We would rather do that than charge you for a drive.
- Attendance. An engineer attends with diagnostic tooling and common consumables.
- Findings on site. You are told what is wrong and what the options are before work is authorised.
- Repair in place, or split job. Either fixed there, or stripped there with components sent to the workshop.
- Run and hand back. The engine is run and checked before we leave, and the work is recorded.

The advantage of that geography is not just speed of arrival. It is that when a component has to come off, the machine shop is a short run away rather than a shipment away — so the part travels back with the engineer who removed it, goes onto a machine, and returns with the engineer who refits it. Attendance is charged separately from the repair, and you are told the basis on the phone before anyone sets off.
