Diesel engine repair and machining for Ajman

Ajman Industrial Area 1 runs along the Sharjah boundary. Our workshop sits behind Yerevan Steel Factory in Industrial Area 15, on the Sharjah side of the same continuous industrial belt — close enough that the whole logistics problem of machine-shop work mostly disappears.

This page covers engines, machining and fuel injection. The generator side has its own page: generator repair and service in Ajman.

From Ajman, you can be your own transport

A machine shop job normally goes like this. A component comes off the engine. Somebody arranges a vehicle to take it somewhere. It goes into a queue. Days later, somebody arranges a vehicle to bring it back. Two transport arrangements and an unknown interval in the middle — which is exactly why so many engines get replaced instead of repaired. From Ajman that arrangement is optional. A workshop, fleet yard or boatyard can put the component in its own pickup, drive it to Industrial Area 15, and collect it, without engaging a transport company — and hand it over in person, to the people who will machine it. Nobody is describing a measurement over the phone.

Two things follow that are worth saying plainly

It converts machining from a dispatch job into a counter job. Bring the part, get the readings. And it removes the handover — subcontracting crankshaft and block work is common in this region, so the component travels anyway; you just are not told where, or when it will be back. Here it does not leave the building. Call before a heavy component travels so the bay and the lifting are free when the vehicle arrives. If you would rather not drive it yourself, collection and return is arranged as part of the job.

What the short run changes

What is worth taking off, now that testing is an afternoon

Components that would normally be left on a tired engine — because getting them tested is a two-day exercise — are worth removing when the workshop is in the next industrial area.

Ajman's own diesel population

The engines that come out of this emirate

Ajman's diesel population is not Dubai's, and it is not the population the generator page describes either.

Ajman CreekOne of the region's longest-standing dhow-building yards, a fish market and a working fishing fleet. Timber and fibreglass working boats with inboard diesels — mostly mechanically injected, mostly long-serving, frequently on their second or third engine, and owned by people who have always repaired rather than replaced because replacing was never realistic.
Industrial Areas 1 and 2One of the emirate's oldest industrial districts, sitting on the Sharjah border. A high concentration of businesses that own plant, trucks and machinery but have no machining capability of their own — the customer this page is really written for. If you are a workshop yourself, we are equipped to be the machine shop behind you.
Al JurfWarehousing, distribution and transport yards, and the truck, tipper and trailer fleets that go with them. Engine work on commercial vehicles is on truck and heavy equipment engine repair.
The Free Zone and the port-adjacent stripTrading, light manufacturing, food and logistics — with the gate-pass arrangements a free zone brings, and the salt-laden air a coastal site brings with it.
On the creek boats specifically

That fleet is the same argument this workshop is built on. Fuel valves and injectors to the bench, heads reconditioned, liners and running gear measured, crankshafts ground — and gearbox-side work referred on where it is not ours. The broader marine arrangement is on marine and shipping.

Not everything needs to move

On site in Ajman, and what comes back with the engineer

Diagnosis, compression and blow-by testing, fault finding on fuel, cooling, lubrication and starting systems, injector and pump changes, turbocharger removal and refitting, top-end work where the site allows, and breakdown attendance are all done where the engine is — the scope is on on-site diesel engine repair.

What changes on the Ajman run is what happens next. Where a component has to come off, the visit is planned to remove it on the same attendance rather than booking a second one, and it travels back with the engineer who removed it. In most cases the component travels and the engine stays — the vessel keeps her shaft alignment, the truck keeps its bed, the machine keeps its plinth.

And the measuring is a short drive away

Repair or replace is a measurement

Most Ajman customers are not really asking “who repairs this?” but “is this worth repairing at all?” That is a measurable question rather than an opinion.

  • A crankshaft turns on ovality, hardness, bend and crack depth, and on the material left above the manufacturer's bottom undersize
  • A block turns on bore wear, taper, ovality and main bearing bore alignment
  • A head turns on flatness, seat recession and cracks
  • A pump or an injector turns on what it delivers on a bench

Nobody can answer those from a photograph. Bring the component and let us measure it — you get the readings with the manufacturer's limits beside them, and then you decide. Nothing is machined or ordered until you say yes.

Straight answers

Frequently asked questions

Do you have a workshop in Ajman?

No, and we would rather say that than list a virtual address. The workshop and the machine shop are behind Yerevan Steel Factory in Industrial Area 15, Sharjah. For an Ajman customer that is barely a distinction — it is the adjacent industrial belt, which is the whole reason the same-day component route described above works from here.

Can I bring a component in myself?

Yes, and from Ajman that is often the fastest route. Call before a heavy item travels so the bay and the lifting are free when you arrive. Give your driver Yerevan Steel Factory as the landmark rather than a plot number — everyone in the area knows it, and the workshop is directly behind it.

Can you collect from an Ajman site?

Yes. Collection and return are arranged as part of the job, and where an engineer is attending anyway the component travels with him. Tell us the weight and how the item can be lifted at your end when you call — that decides what turns up.

Do you work on fishing boat and dhow engines?

Yes, on the engine and its components: fuel valves and injectors, heads, liners and running gear, crankshafts, turbochargers, starting and charging. Gearboxes, shafting and drive units are a separate discipline — tell us the full installation and we will say plainly which parts of the job are ours before anyone is mobilised.

My generator is the problem, not an engine on a machine. Which page?

Generator repair and service in Ajman, which covers the set as a whole — alternator, panel, controls and load — rather than the engine alone.

Which engine makes do you work on?

Most of an engine repair is machining and measurement, which does not change with the badge. The makes with pages of their own are listed on engine brands; if yours is not there, send the data plate and you will get a straight answer on whether it is a job we take.

Bring it down, or get an engineer up

Tell us the engine make, model and serial, the application, and whether you are bringing a component in or need someone to come to you. Photograph the data plate and the failed part — that is usually enough for a straight answer before anything is moved.
