Diesel engine repair in Dubai — on site across the emirate

We are a Sharjah workshop that does a great deal of its work in Dubai. That arrangement is deliberate, and this page explains how it works — because the honest question a Dubai buyer asks is: why use a repairer based in another emirate?

This page covers engines, machining and fuel injection across the emirate. If the machine is a complete generator set, start instead at generator repair and service in Dubai.

Because a diesel repair job splits cleanly in two

The diagnostic and mechanical half is done where the engine is — there is no advantage to moving an engine to find out what is wrong with it. The machining half cannot be done anywhere except on a machine tool, and the machines are behind Yerevan Steel Factory in Industrial Area 15, Sharjah, roughly half an hour up the road from most of Dubai's industrial belt. A workshop inside Dubai that does not own machines has to subcontract that half to someone else anyway; the component still travels, you just do not get told where. We say the distance out loud because it is not the disadvantage it looks like: a component leaves your site and is on a machine the same day, and the people machining it are the people who answer the phone about it.

The split

What happens in Dubai, and what travels

On your site in Dubai

Diagnosis and mechanical work

  • Diagnosis and measurement
  • Compression and blow-by testing
  • Fault finding on fuel, cooling, lubrication and starting systems
  • Injector and pump changes
  • Turbocharger removal and refitting
  • Top-end work where the site allows it
  • Running and load testing, and breakdown attendance

Back to the workshop

Bench and machine-tool work

  • Crankshafts, cylinder heads, blocks and connecting rods
  • Injection pumps and injectors
  • Turbochargers and alternator windings
  • All of it bench or machine-tool work — see the machine shop side of a Dubai job
  • In almost every case the component travels and the engine stays. We take the crankshaft, not the vessel; the head, not the excavator
Collection and return is part of how a Dubai job works, not an extra service

We come to you, the component travels with the engineer who removed it, and it comes back with the engineer who refits it. The alternative — you arranging transport for a crankshaft, twice — is exactly the friction that makes people put off a repair until it becomes a replacement. Tell us where you are when you call and the collection is planned into the same attendance.

Who we work for here

Dubai sectors

01

Marine and ship repair

Vessels alongside at Dubai's ports and yards, plus the marinas and Dubai Maritime City. Main engine and auxiliary components come ashore for machining and go back — detail on marine and shipping. This is the sector where the component round-trip matters most, because the alternative is a vessel waiting on a replacement part with a manufacturing lead time attached to it.

02

Construction and plant

Excavators, loaders, crushers and compressors working across the emirate and parked at yards in Al Quoz, Ras Al Khor and DIP. Plant engines fail from dust, heat and hours, and the repairable failures — liners, heads, crankshafts — are exactly the ones a dealer would answer with a replacement engine. See construction plant.

03

Facilities and building services

Standby generators, fire pumps and pump sets in towers and compounds, mostly on maintenance contracts, mostly needing the work documented for a client. The generator side has its own page: generator repair and service in Dubai.

04

Logistics and fleet

Truck and equipment engines out of Jebel Ali, JAFZA and the industrial areas — engine-side work on truck and heavy equipment engine repair.

One district worth its own note

Al Quoz

Al Quoz produces a particular kind of enquiry: dense light-industrial units, workshops and yards, engines and gensets in tight compounds with shared access, and a concentration of businesses that own plant but no repair facility of their own.

Access is usually the constraint rather than the work — narrow compound entrances, limited lifting space, and neighbours either side. Practically, an Al Quoz job is usually diagnosis on site followed by a component going back to Sharjah. Where an engine has to come out entirely, it travels; where it does not, it stays and only the failed part moves. Cummins engines in particular reach us from Al Quoz workshops and yards — the brand-side detail is on Cummins engine repair.

Repair or replace is a measurement, and the measuring happens here

The question a Dubai buyer is usually really asking is not “who repairs this?” but “is this worth repairing at all?” A crankshaft turns on ovality, hardness, bend and crack depth, and on how much material remains above the manufacturer's bottom undersize. A head turns on flatness, seat recession and cracks. A liner turns on wear, taper and ovality. Nobody can answer those from a photograph, and a supplier who quotes a replacement without them is guessing in the direction that suits him. Send the component up from Dubai, or have the engineer bring it back with him, and you get the readings with the manufacturer's limits beside them — then decide.

  • Access paperwork

Gate passes for free zone plots, permits to work in occupied buildings, port passes for anything alongside. Tell us what the site requires when you call and it is filed before the engineer leaves.

  • The working window

Occupied buildings, live plants and vessels on a schedule all have a window rather than a day. We agree it in advance.

  • What comes off first

If a component is likely to travel, the visit is planned to remove it on the same attendance rather than booking a second one.

  • An engine down and stopping work

Emergency breakdown attendance covers what to tell us, and what not to do before we arrive.

Straight answers

Frequently asked questions

Do you have a workshop in Dubai?

No, and we would rather say so than list a virtual address. The workshop and the machine shop are in Industrial Area 15, Sharjah. In Dubai we work on your site, and components travel to the machines.

Is a Sharjah workshop a disadvantage for a Dubai job?

For on-site work, no — the engineers drive to you either way. For machining it is an advantage: most Dubai repairers subcontract crankshaft and block work, which adds a queue and a handover you do not control. Ours is in house.

Can you collect an engine from Dubai?

Yes, whole engines and components are collected and returned, and transport is arranged as part of the job rather than left with you. Tell us the weight and how the item can be lifted at your end when you call — that decides what turns up.

Do you cover the Dubai ports and marinas?

Yes — vessels alongside, and components brought ashore for machining. See marine and shipping.

What is the fastest way to get a quote?

Photograph the engine data plate and the failed component, send it to +971 50 767 9050 on WhatsApp, and tell us the area and the access arrangement.

My generator is the problem rather than a loose engine. Which page?

Generator repair and service in Dubai, which covers the set as a whole — alternator, panel, controls and load — rather than the engine alone.
