A stopped machine is not an invoice problem. It is a programme problem, an off-hire problem or a margin problem — and the invoice is usually the smallest line in the calculation.

What a stopped machine actually costs you
Every plant manager knows this. It is worth writing down anyway, because it decides what a good supplier looks like.
A machine on a programme
An excavator sitting on a critical path holds up everything behind it. The cost is measured in follow-on trades standing about, and in the conversation with the main contractor — not in the repair.
A machine on hire out
For a hire fleet, a downed unit is lost revenue every day it is off hire, plus substituting another unit, plus the customer relationship if you cannot. A repair that takes three weeks because a component went to a subcontractor is a hole in the business model.
A machine on a package rate
Where plant is priced into a fixed-price package, downtime comes straight out of margin with nowhere to pass it.
So the target is not the cheapest quote
It is the shortest honest time back into service, without doing the job twice — and the two things that decide it are parts lead time and whether the machining is under someone else's control.
The answer to the lead time
Parts lead time is the problem, and machining is the answer to it
Plant engines in the UAE are a mix of current models and long-serving ones, and it is the long-serving ones that stop programmes. A crankshaft, a block, a head or a liner set for an older machine is not something you buy across a counter here. It is an order, and the order has a lead time attached to it that nobody at the yard controls.
The alternative is to repair the component already in the machine. Whether that is possible is a measurement — but when it is, it collapses a lead time into a workshop schedule. A workshop without machines has to pass the machining on, and the queue it joins is not yours to chase. You get given a date rather than a reason. Subcontracting is common in this market; we would rather answer for our own schedule, and we can.

Three patterns, and they want different things from a supplier.
The contractor with its own workshop
- Has fitters, has no machine tools
- Sends us components — heads, crankshafts, rods, injection equipment — and does its own strip and rebuild
- What matters here is measurement quality, turnaround and being told the truth about a marginal part, because the fitter's reputation rides on the rebuild
The plant hire company
- Runs a mixed fleet across many customers and buys on utilisation
- Wants predictable turnaround, honest triage on which units are worth spending on, and a supplier who can take a batch of engines through rather than one at a time
- End-of-life decisions on hire units are engineering decisions with a commercial answer, and the measurements are what settle them
The site or project team
- Has a machine down now and a programme that does not care
- Wants attendance, a straight diagnosis and a realistic date
Engine makes on UAE plant
- Caterpillar and Cummins dominate the larger machines — CAT and Cummins have their own pages
- Deutz is common in compressors, forklifts, crushers and older European plant

Maintenance agreements and AMC arrangements for plant fleets are offered, and each is built against the equipment list and the working windows rather than sold from a table. We hold no brand dealership; manufacturer names identify the equipment serviced.
The expensive decision on a fifteen-year-old loader is not the repair. It is deciding whether the engine is worth repairing at all, and that is a reading rather than an opinion. A crankshaft turns on ovality, hardness, bend and crack depth, and on how much material remains above the manufacturer's bottom permitted undersize. A block turns on liner bore wear, taper, ovality and main bearing bore alignment. A head turns on flatness, seat recession and cracks. So the low-commitment first step is not a quotation — send the component, or the engine, and let us measure it. You get the figures with the limits beside them, which is what turns a disposal argument with your management into a decision. If the part is past recovery you will be told that, because a wrong repair on a machine you need every shift is dearer than a right replacement.
Our workshop is in Industrial Area 15, Sharjah, a short run from the Sharjah industrial areas and the quarry roads, and within an ordinary drive of the Dubai plant yards in Al Quoz, Ras Al Khor, DIP and Jebel Ali.

Frequently asked questions
Do you work on the whole machine or only the engine?
The engine and its systems — fuel, cooling, lubrication, starting, charging, turbocharging and controls — plus the machining of its components. Hydraulics, transmissions and structures are not what this workshop is built for, and we will say so rather than take the job.
Can you keep a hire fleet's engines going as an arrangement rather than job by job?
Yes. AMC and maintenance agreements are offered and every one is built around the equipment list, the sites and the availability targets, so it begins with a conversation.
My forklift or telehandler engine is small. Is that too small for you?
Diesel plant engines of that size are ordinary work here. Very small engines are declined, and you will be told on the phone in a minute rather than after a site visit.
How quickly can you get to a site?
It depends on the emirate, the day and the access. Sharjah and Dubai are an ordinary drive; further afield is planned rather than promised. Tell us where the machine is and you will get a straight answer about whether we can meet your window.
The machine is a 4x4 or a light commercial vehicle. Do you take it?
No. This workshop is heavy-duty diesel — plant, trucks, gensets, marine and industrial. Cars and light vehicles are not what we do.
